The Central Valley Project (abbreviated as CVP) is a Bureau of Reclamation federal water project in the U.S. state of desi.pw was devised in in order to provide irrigation and municipal water to much of California's Central Valley—by regulating and storing water in reservoirs in the water-rich northern half of the state, and transporting it to the water-poor San Joaquin Valley and Power plant capacity: 2, MW. The Central Valley Project (CVP) at UCLA was established by Luis Sanchez, Maria Mendoza, and Cynthia Montoya during the Winter Quarter. These students saw a direct need for educational resources and leaders in underinvested communities of the California Central Valley as well as an underrepresentation of Central Valley students in top research universities. In the s, farmers discovered a centuries-old aquifer under the land and began massive pumping efforts that decimated the existing water supply. Enter President Franklin D. Roosevelt and the little-known Bureau of Reclamation, funding the giant Central Valley Project, the largest water works in history.
